I am thrilled to have teamed up with Anglian Home Improvements to launch a garden that is set to shock and amaze at this year’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show (5th – 10th July 2011).
It’s an amazing and exciting new project, giving me the opportunity to bring in some of the leading horticultural scientists in Europe to provide support to create a completely ‘naked’ garden. Plants will be sourced from America, Brazil, Netherlands, Europe and Thailand using some of the best varieties that can remarkably grow without soil to produce flowers, foliage, fruit and vegetables.
In my early discussions with Anglian Home Improvements I presented my unique naked garden design scheme. My design concept was inspired by Anglian’s glazing technology which is always ‘invisible’ to the homeowner’s eye, hidden in the natural transparency of glass.
This transparency gave me the idea to match it with a ‘naked’ plant theme!
Our garden will expose plants in a series of cleverly constructed glass containers and transparent materials which show the beauty of ‘naked’ plants and expose what is traditionally left undiscovered.
Plants will be grown soil free so all the containers we use will be glass with water solution inside enabling everyone to see what is above and below the water level. The plants will be getting their pots off through the challenging technology of aquatic culture that creates plants with exposed roots.
Together with Anglian Home Improvements I intend to open show visitors eyes to what traditionally cannot be seen, and encourage a new take on plants this summer.
