Three things to do in your garden
1. Lawn care
Waterlogged patches of lawn may be spiked with a fork to give immediate drainage to the turf. On heavy land, repeat with a hollow-lined fork when the soil is dryer.
2. Pruning
Large flowering clematis which flower after June and the viticella and orientalis species are pruned now. Working up from the base find the lowest, healthy, fat, pair of buds on each stem and cut immediately above them.
3. Vegetables
Early salad crops, such as lettuce and spring onions, may be sown indoors and grown on under cloches. Radishes and even carrots may be sown under cloches.
