Blue Peter sunken garden, famous and known to us all, but did you know it has been dismantled? It would be a tragedy if the superb garden created by the renowned Percy Thrower is lost forever.
Fortunately the garden that inspired many of today’s gardeners, when they were mere youngsters, can be saved.
Many of the sunken garden items have been placed in storage and I have offered to rebuild the Blue Peter garden as a lasting legacy of someone who 30 years ago motivated kids watching TV to get involved in gardening.
Our plan is to rebuild the original Blue Peter garden in a public park or maybe a hospice where it can be admired by many people for years to come. We will reuse the paving slabs, resite statues of the well loved dogs Petra and Mabel, reinstall the time capsules and of course erect the plaque to Percy Thrower.
