Garden Fence Treatments

It’s good to know that things have moved on quite a bit from the days when Creosote was the only product available to treat the fence and protect it from the weather!

Nowadays there is a wide range of effective fence treatments which give great protection in a range of colours and will extend the life of your fence.

Protection

Fence Treatments

It’s always advisable to apply a fence treatment every few years to protect the wood from frost or water damage.  If left untreated rain or frost can penetrate the timber of your fence and fence posts causing rapid deterioration and rotting, which inevitably means forking out for a replacement.  This can prove to bea costly business soit’s well worth a small investment in time and effort to prolong the life of your fence or shed.

How to Treat

Safe and easy to use, fence treatments can be applied with a brush or a spray system which is a really quick way to get the job done.  Most are quick drying and offer a high level of protection against the elements to keep your fence in top condition. Containing active ingredients that penetrate the wood to prevent decay and rot, today’s fence treatments also have water repellent waxes and resins which waterproof the timber to help protect it from the worst of the British weather.

Colours

Most fence treatments come in a wide choice of interesting colours giving you the option to totallytransform the look of the garden and have something that little bit different from the traditional dull brown fence.  This can be a cost effective way to provide an interesting ‘designer’ backdrop which can really highlight your plants and trees for maximum effect.  Try out shades of green, blue, cream, grey or even pink for a fresh new look to your garden.

And don’t forget there are also plenty of other specialised wood treatment products for use on your wooden garden furniture, sheds, garden structures and decking!
