Garden Toys & Games

GamesGetting the kids involved in games and activities in the garden is a great way to develop their co-ordination and general fitness in a fun way; and of course dragging them away from the dreaded computer games.

Playing together is important for developing social skills and also to learn the importance of sportsmanship. And of course the whole family can enjoy a bit of exercise outside in the fresh air.

Water Collection & Water Butts

Frequent publicity highlights the need to utilise our precious natural resources carefully, none is more important than making maximum use of valuable water.

It is estimated that at least 85,000 litres of rain water falls on our roofs each year. This is a fantastic free resource which goes straight down the drain if it’s not collected and stored for use in the garden.

Reduce your Water Bill

It also makes economic and environmental sense to have at least one water butt installed to make use of our rainfall. Being able to water your garden with collected rainwater will reduce the usage of household water whichcan save money on yourmetered water bill and also helps the environmentby preserving our valuable water resources.

Rain Water - chemical free

Rainwater doesn’t contain any of the chlorine or other chemicals which are added to make it safe to drink so it is softer than tap water and more beneficial to the garden. Your plants and lawn will grow better using rainwater.

Water Fall

Water Butt

It’s a very simple process to install a water butt either using a rain trap on the downpipe which then diverts the water into the butt, or simply remove the lower part of the downpipe and stand the butt underneath, making sure there is an overflow for any excess water to run off.

Butt Size Options

There are many different sizes and designs of water butt available to suit every garden environment. Even with smallor restricted space, there are slimmer models which take up less floor space or can be mounted on the wall next to the down pipe. Most are made from plastic, which are cost effective, durable and maintenance free, but if your water butt is going to be in a prominent position in the garden you may prefer something that will look attractive in metal, wood or maybe an oak barrel which has been specially adapted.

Cover Your Butt

To ensure the water stays as fresh as possible whilst in the butt, always keep it covered. This will help prevent algae growing on the surface and keep it free from leaves, debris or insects getting into the water.

You need never get caught out by hosepipe bans or water shortages with a water butt or two!
