Really thick and sturdy slate. Using a white acrylic pen is best. We’ve had these outside for a couple of months with no discernable fading. Probably best to bring them in over winter id you want the to remain pristine. We are leaving ours outside until next year so we can identify what’s where next spring. Would definitely buy more of these. Make sure you have someone with nice writing…

These are lovely, packaged well thank goodness because delivery driver practically threw them on a hard floor. No breakages. Some reviews have moaned they are not uniform, they are a natural product and vary in thickness, I like that. If you want uniform buy plastic. I recommend them.

These arrived promptly and were well packaged with no breakages. I also ordered a white sharpie oil pen to write on them with. They look very professional in the garden and I am hoping that it will stop the under gardener from pulling up plants that he thinks they are weeds next spring. They are a great size – I’m glad I didn’t order the 20cm length ones, Time will tell how robust they are.
