Description
Sow indoors for surest results, between February and April, 0.5cm (¼”) deep, in trays of peat-free compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Transplant them, 5cm (2″) apart, to other trays when large enough to handle. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out into well-drained soil, May-June, 25cm (10″) apart, when frosts are over. Or, sow outdoors for ease, between April and May, where they are to flower, 1.5cm (½”) deep, into finely-prepared, well-drained soil, which has already been watered. Thin seedlings as required. Water well until plants are established. Enjoy the flowers from June to October.

Diana Benson –
Expensive for what is an easily collected seed, it was disappointing to find no inner envelope (a paper inner packet would have been fine). This makes storage of unused seed more difficult than it should be, a paper lip has done the job but I hadn’t anticipated needing to use one for a packet of Mr Fothergill’s seeds.Plenty of seeds supplied, they look fine and I have sown 30. Too soon yet to know how many will germinate but will update if there are any surprises in coming weeks. Looking forward to adding flowers to salads during the summer.

Received these seeds super fast and the germination rate on the is really good. They are growing strong and healthy in my green house, I just hoping for the weather to finally turn so we can plant them out!Recommended
Casey –
Great quality seeds and plenty of them in the packet delivery was slow but were worth the wait. The germination rate was very high and have produced some cracking little bushes which are now covered in flowers the colours are all different but I like them mixed. Finnalt they are actually quite tall well over 30cm but I’m happy

very poor germination rate, only 4 seeds actually germinated, i planted loads of seeds in peat pellets and these sunflowers are the only seeds that didn’t germinate, tomatoes, sweet pea, marigolds etc all fine but the sunflowers are a complete fail.
