Product Description

Radish scarlet globe seed by Mr. Fothergill’s. Easily grown, with good ‘bite’. An old favourite. Easy and fast growing, crisp round radishes with good flavour, ideal for poorer soils. An excellent source of vitamin C.

Useful Information: Awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit; Easy to grow variety; Vitamin C; Suitable for contained gardens

Sow and grow: Outdoors, sow thinly, February-September, where they are to crop, 1.5 cm (1/2-inch) deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-drained, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 23 cm (9-inch) between rows. Early sowings may benefit from cloche protection. Seedlings usually appear in 7-10 days. Water well until plants are established. Thin only if plants are overcrowded. Harvest: April-October.

Hints and tips: Regular watering ensures fast growth and prevents roots going ‘woody.’ Radishes are best sown ‘little and often.’

Care and Cultivation: Regular sowings, made every two to three weeks, will ensure a continuous supply.

I don’t actually like radishes so won’t be growing these again, however, when grown with Strulch, I was impressed by how well these grew. I didn’t have much luck harvesting radishes without chunks taken out of them before using Strulch before so would recommend it.I can appreciate that the flavour was good for people who do like radishes and these germinated well and got nice and thicc. Would recommend.

…every year and I have no reason to think that this years crop, grown in my raised veg bed, will be any different to previous years.I particularly like the Scarlet Globe radish and their good ‘old fashioned’ flavour is just right for my mixed salads or just a couple cut into quarters to go with my lunchtime sandwich – not overpowering but definitely ‘tasty’.Thank you for your time in reading my feedback/review – I hope it may have helped you in your buying decision. If this feedback/review has helped in any way please be kind enough to click on ‘Helpful’.
