Product Description

Lobjoits green cos lettuce seed by Mr. Fothergill’s. Large, sweet, and firm hearts with crisp texture and good flavour. May be overwintered or sown early under cloches or frames.

Useful Information: Easy to grow variety; Vitamin A; Vitamin C; Salad bar.

Sow and Grow: Outdoors: sow thinly, March-July or September-October, where they are to crop, 1.5 cm (1/2-inch) deep, directly into finely-prepared, fertile, moisture-retentive soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30 cm (1-feet) between rows. Early sowings may benefit from cloche protection. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Thin out to 25 cm (10-inch) apart. Water well until plants are established. Regular sowings, made every two to three weeks, will ensure a continuous supply. Harvest: April-October. September to October sowings will be ready the following April to May.

Hints and Tips: It is possible to get an even earlier start in spring, by sowing under glass in February and planting out in April.
