Description

Product Description

Tomato country taste f1 seed by Mr. Fothergill’s. Beefsteak type weighing up to 450 g. Disease resistant, with very large richly flavoured fruit.  Indeterminate (needs support), cool or warm greenhouse.  Excellent source of vitamin C and antioxidants.

Useful Information: Suitable for exhibition and showbench

Sow and Grow: Sow indoors, a warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow 0.5 cm (1/4-inch) deep, thinly in a pot of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20 degree C (60-68 degree F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Transplant to individual pots when 10-15 cm (4-6-inch) tall. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out to large pots, growing bags or greenhouse border. Provide support, pinch out side shoots regularly and pinch out growing tip after six trusses have set. For best results provide a regular liquid feed.

Hints and Tips: Show judges look for shapely, ripe but firm fruits with unmarked skin and with their calyces (stalks) still attached.

Germinate well. The variety of tomato only produces one or two trusses per plant. If you want a lot of Tom’s then go for another variety. These are ok for people like myself who like to try novelty types. The Tom’s are large with a bland taste so they are ok for frying but useless for salads etc.Give em ago and see if you agree.
