Headed lettuce mixed seed by Mr. Fothergill’s. Wide range of varieties. A wide selection of colours, shapes, textures and sizes which will produce a harvest of tasty, headed lettuces throughout the summer months from successive sowings.
Useful Information: Easy to grow variety; Vitamin A; Vitamin C; Salad bar; Oriental vegetables.
Sow and Grow: Outdoors: sow thinly, March-July where they are to crop, 1.5 cm (1/2-inch) deep, directly into finely-prepared, fertile, moisture-retentive soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30 cm (1 feet) between rows. Early sowings may benefit from cloche protection. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Thin out to 25 cm (10-inch) apart. Water well until plants are established. Regular sowings, made every two to three weeks, will ensure a continuous supply. Harvest: June-October.
Hints and Tips: For the crispest, freshest heads, pick in the cool of early morning or late evening.
