Description

Sow indoors for surest results, March-May, 1.5 cm (1/2-inch) deep, in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse, or on a warm kitchen windowsill. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 21-28 days. Transplant individually, when large enough to handle, to 7.5 cm (3-inch) pots. Always hold by a leaf, never by the stem. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions, before planting out into well-drained soil, June-October, 60 cm (2-feet) apart. Or, sow outdoors, May-July, in a seed bed, 0.5 cm (1/4-inch) deep, into finely-prepared, well-drained soil, which has already been watered. Thin seedlings to 7.5 cm (3-inch) apart, before planting out to flowering position in autumn. Flowers: June-August, the following year.

Hints and Tips: In cold areas, the young plants will benefit from some cloche protection in the worst of the winter weather.

Stunning colour, the video shows the plants I sowed last Spring, followed by the seeds I sowed around 4 weeks ago this year.

These seeds started sprouting so quickly, I was amazed, it made my day. I couldn’t wait to visit the greenhouse & look at them. In no time at all they were ready to plant up from the seed trays. My garden will be full of Hollyhocks I have so many seedlings growing, & I can’t wait. I Love, Love, Love them. ♥️

The seeds arrived before the due time, well packed. I have planted them and hope they all bloom, but so far only have tiny green shoots!
