Ferrari dwarf bean seed by Mr. Fothergill’s. Top quality, filet type. Slim, fleshy, stringless, fine ‘Kenyan’ type beans with a good flavour and colour. Early cropping if raised under cloches. Useful Information: Awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit; Full shade; Vitamin A; Vitamin C; Dietary fibre; Suitable for containers Sow and grow: Sow indoors for surest results April-May, 2.5 cm (1-inch) deep into individual pots of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20 degree C (60-68 degree F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 25 cm (10-inch) apart, during May-June when frosts are over. Allow 45 cm (18-inch) between rows. Or sow outdoors May-July for ease, where they are to crop, 5 cm (2-inch) deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-cultivated, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Delay sowing if soil is cold or waterlogged. Sow two seeds together, 30 cm (1-feet) between each position. Allow 45 cm (18-inch) between rows. Thin to leave stronger plant. Water well until plants are established. Harvest: June-October. Hints and tips: In hot weather, mist the flowers with tepid water in the evening to help pods form. An early and a late sowing will extend the harvest season. Ideal for deep freezing. Care and Cultivation: Pick beans regularly to encourage further cropping. For the earliest crops, sow in April and protect with cloches once planted out until pods form.

After a long time growing different dwarf French beans I tried these a couple of years ago. They are the best I have grown and I will stick with these for the future. They crop heavily, despite only growing to about 9-12” in height. They freeze well after blanching. Most of all they taste excellent.
