Beetroot perfect 3 seed by Mr. Fothergill’s. For baby and large beets. Globe shaped with great tasting, deep red flesh. Lift young as ‘baby beets’ or leave to mature.
Useful Information: Easy to grow variety; Folate; Dietary fibre; Potassium
Sow and Grow: Outdoors: Sow thinly, April-July, where they are to crop, 2.5 cm (1-inch) deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-cultivated, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30 cm (1 feet) between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 10 cm (4-inch) apart. Water well until plants are established. Regular sowings, made every three weeks, should ensure a continuous supply of young beets. Harvest: July-October.
Hints and Tips: For baby beet, lift when the size of golf balls. Twisting off the leaves prevents ‘bleeding.’
Care and Cultivation: Harvested roots can be stored in dry sand for winter use.
