Description

Sow outdoors, March-May or August-October, where they are to flower, 0.5 cm (1/4-inch) deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-drained soil, which has already been watered. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Thin seedlings the to 20 cm (8-inch) apart. Water well until plants are fully established. For a continuous display, sow again at two to three-week intervals. Sow your seeds in a curved pattern, rather than straight lines, to create a more pleasing effect. Flowers: June-September. Late summer and autumn sowings will flower the following year, often earlier than spring sowings.

Hints and Tips: Remove dead heads to prolong flowering season. Why not grow some in the vegetable garden, just for cutting?

I live in a flat with no garden and have been desperate to grow flowers for years. I decided to give these a try, not really expecting much. However, I was very pleasantly surprised!I planted them 9 weeks ago, around the end of May, in a fairly shallow pot without any drainage holes (this made me even less convinced they would come to anything). Within 5 days I had sprouts, 2 weeks later they had their first set of proper leaves and 6 weeks after planting I had my first flowers. They’ve been giving me a lovely show of blooms ever since. I’m very pleased. It is worth noting, they are quite stunted. They have definitely not reached the 90cm stated and the blooms are quite small, but this was to be expected based on the growing conditions. I did only plant half the packet and gave the other half to my mum to plant in her outdoor containers. They have definitely grown to their potential height and sprouted much quicker outdoors. After reading the reviews, I was also concerned that I wouldn’t get the variety of colours suggested by the packaging. Again, mine have been brilliant. I’ve had the usual blues but also bright pinks, various shades of purple, white and various two tone blooms. You can see the beautiful variety I have achieved in the attached photos.I would 100% purchase these again!
