I love houseplants, but sadly they don’t love me…. I can’t keep the balance between enough water and too much – after killing 2 relativley un-killable plants, I decided to buy this. Its easy to use, although you have to be sure the switch is set to the correct setting as I failed and still managed to over-water a plant the first use.I don’t have much use for the pH testing as I’m not that much of a horticulturist that I’ll bother with soil acidity…. but the moisture meter is good, and handy to know if your plants are receiving enough light.Helpfully there is an included reference guide with some common houseplants and their ranges of light and moisture ranges.

The pH scale was far too small and difficult to read. The pH scale should be at the top so it can be more easily read.I would not recommend this meter.

I’m not the best with plants & I had 2 that were dying on me, as you can see in the 2nd pic, turns out I was overwatering them. The first one has just been watered but it’s a great tool to have & helps me now to know IF they need water or not .. fingers crossed I’ll manage to keep this one going!

Good to use.

It appears to work. It’s hard to read and is it accurate, no idea. But the needle moves, so it’s checking something

Giving this honest review in hopes to help others deciding on purchasing it (not a paid review or anything). Overall, the product is exactly as described on the listing and I pleased that it works. The meter was already set to ‘light’ and so was easy to test as you can simply cover the sensor on the front and see the dial move. The meter did seem to struggle initially to register moisture/ph – the dial barely moved, if at all, despite following the instructions carefully and waiting 10 minutes. I thought at this point I may have gotten a dud. However, I ran the metal rod ends under the garden tap to remove any residules and gave it a dry using a soft cloth. Then popped it into the compost pile and the dial moved fairly quickly to 7 or moist and a pH of 8 within seconds. I then saturated a bucket of soil to test it and the meter immediately went as far ‘wet’ as possible. I’m not certain how accurate the ph meter is as I’ve not tested the pH using another meter, but it does seem to give a general ball-point mark, which is fine for my composting needs. I am giving it 4 stars as it is very analogue, but it does do exactly as described. For it’s price and value, I’d recommend this product!

I used to over water my plants, which was the main reason for getting this device. It’s very useful when unsure whether the lower layers of the soil are wet or dry.
