Make the Most of October
Hi there,
October brings a real change of atmosphere to the garden. Autumn colour is taking centre stage, leaves are falling, and cooler nights are a reminder that winter is on the way. There’s still plenty to enjoy outdoors, but it is also a useful month to get a few things prepared.
One job worth tackling now is overwintering tender plants. Move frost-sensitive plants like pelargoniums and tender fuchsias somewhere bright and frost-free before temperatures drop. Check plants carefully for pests before bringing them under cover, remove any damaged or dying growth, and reduce watering as growth slows. Most plants will need less water through winter, and feeding can usually stop until active growth begins again in spring. If you want more advice like this, follow me on Instagram and Facebook.
